Google has announced a new feature that will allow doctors to use generative AI to search for relevant medical information and insights. The feature, called Google Health Search, will leverage Google’s advanced natural language processing and deep learning models to generate answers to complex clinical questions.
Google Health Search will enable doctors to type or speak their queries in natural language, and receive concise and accurate responses that are generated from a large corpus of medical literature, guidelines, and databases. The feature will also provide links to the original sources, as well as related articles and images.
The company said that its generative AI models can understand the context and intent of the queries, and produce relevant and reliable answers that are tailored to the specific clinical scenario. For example, a doctor can ask “What is the best treatment for stage 3 lung cancer in a 65-year-old smoker with diabetes?” and receive a response that summarizes the current evidence and recommendations, as well as the pros and cons of different options.
Google Health Search aims to help doctors save time and effort in finding and synthesizing medical information, and improve their decision making and patient care. The feature will also allow doctors to explore new topics and learn from the latest research and best practices.
Google Health Search is currently in beta testing with a select group of hospitals and clinics in the US, UK, and India. Google plans to roll out the feature to more users and regions in the coming months. The feature will be available on desktop and mobile devices, as well as through Google Assistant.
